Hay River September 10

AG Mike Adamchick, Wayne and I took an early morning flight to Hay River, and were met by President Tom Lakusta. We spent the morning touring – again the sights of the Hay River Falls, breakfast at Enterprise gave us a great introduction to this beautiful community. The tour continued after the Rotary meeting with a visit to the local museum, fishing docks and golf course. Beautiful spot.

This club was putting their ideas together to showcase rotary at their Trade Fair. Working along side other service clubs, they participate in the Auction Mart and put on a Wine and Art Festival.

Books for Kids program – literacy program that has been going on for about 8 years has resulted in students receiving a book a year with the Rotary wheel. This is a great project...books are presented in a bag with the Rotary stamp and logo visible.

The Dragon's Den project with the local school is designed to promote literacy and career interests. Students volunteer to create projects outside of school hours for extra credit. The project loosely conforms to the TV show Dragon's Den.

Plans for the future include the construction of a Band Shell with other community partners, Community Gardens and Fishing Derby.

Great job Rotarians - keep us posted.
